FRENCH WATER UTILITY ORDERS 150,000 MADDALENA RADIO WATER METERS

Maddalena signed an important contract with the Saur Group for the supply of 150,000 positive displacement water meters equipped with a radio communication system. The installation started at the end of last year and will be completed in 2017 under a massive meter replacement project. These smart end points will be connected to the utility’s fixed radio network system with bidirectional capabilities and will improve billing, water monitoring, efficiency and reduce water loss.
Maddalena was selected for its top-range positive displacement water meter and new ARROWwan compact radio module.

ARROWWAN is compatible with the current wM-Bus standard (EN 13757 and AFNOR E17Z), and it can also support the new LPWAN solutions such as LoRa™ and Sigfox .  Thanks to the integrated NFC interface, the transmission mode is easy and intuitive to select  – users will be able to select the mode simply by using a smartphone.

ARROWWAN will be available in two versions:

1) 868 MHz, multi-protocol: wM-Bus, LoRa™, Sigfox;

2) 169 MHz, multi-protocol: wM-Bus, LoRa™.

The new smart water meter endpoint has already enabled Maddalena to specify the technology  in major contracts with key water utilities at European level for a range of upcoming projects in the next 12 months , with orders placed for some 200,000 units in total.
